Seussical the Musical; Carousel Theatre (Upcoming show)

Carousel Theatre’s successful production of Seussical the Musical returns for a third run this holiday season.  This musical reimagining of different classic Dr. Seuss tales is great for musical lovers of all ages.

Music by Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime), lyrics by Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime), book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.  Co-conceived by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Eric Idle.  Based on the works of Dr. Seuss.

Directed by Carole Higgins, musical direction by Steven Greenfield, choreography by Melissa Young, set design by Alison Green, costume design by Barbara Clayden and lighting design by Itai Erdal.

Featuring Greg Armstrong-Morris, Joel Bernabum, Darren Burkett, Kaylee Hardwood, Josue Laboucane, Taylor Lintott, Jennifer Neumann, Melissa Oei, Christine Quintana, Rebecca Talbot and Lucas Testini.

Carousel Theatre presents Seussical the Musical from December 4, 2010 – January 1, 2011 at the Waterfront Theatre, 1412 Cartwright St., Granville Island. Tickets are available online.

Mimi (Or A Poisoner’s Comedy); Touchstone Theatre (Upcoming show)

Touchstone Theatre celebrates its 35th season with a lineup of original Canadian musicals and music theatre.  First up, is Mimi (Or A Poisoner’s Comedy)Mimi, which debuted to good reviews in Toronto last season, is billed as a comedy about a young French aristocrat who takes up poison as a hobby.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (Upcoming show)

Musicals are often adapted from other media. Movies, television shows, and even comics have provided inspiration for some of Broadway’s biggest hits (and flops).  So it’s really no stretch that the internet could eventually do the same.  Broadway West and Relephant Theatre present the Vancouver premiere of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.

Created and written by Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, Joss Whedon and Zack Whedon, music by Joss Whedon and Jed Whedon.

Featuring Jon Lachlan Stewart, Shane Snow, Christina Hardie, Steven Greenfield, Jaclyn Rae, Anna Kuman, Kirk Smith, and Samantha Currie. Directed by Steven Greenfield, choreography by Shane Snow, and musical direction by Steven Greenfield.

Where’s Charley?; Studio 58 (Upcoming show)

The musical farce Where’s Charley? opens at Studio 58 next week, showcasing more of BC’s up-and-coming theatrical talent.  Music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, book by George Abbott, directed by Dean Paul Gibson, musical direction by Steven Greenfield, choreographed by Shelley Stewart Hunt, set design by Pam Johnson, and costumes by Chris Sinosich.
